The Birds (12) in Lenormand: meaning and combinations
Two birds, often owls, perched together on a branch. The Birds are the card of talk: conversations, phone calls, chatter, and the slightly restless mood that comes with too much of it. Because there are two of them, the card also describes pairs: two people, a couple, a dialogue. It is a busy, noisy card, and it rarely sits still in a reading.
In tradition
Traditionally the Birds are read as conversations and communication, and also as nervousness, small worries and excitement. Older guides connect them with short trips and with couples, especially long-standing couples, since many decks show two owls side by side. The inset is the seven of diamonds. Some readers count the birds on the card: two point to a pair, more to a crowd and its gossip. In a line, the card is said to make its neighbours the subject of talk.
How Falyora reads it
At the front of a pair, the Birds are a conversation, and the second card says what about or in what tone: Birds then Heart is talking about feelings. Behind another card, they add chatter or restlessness: Fox then Birds is meetings and calls at work, Mountain then Birds a block that leaves you jittery.
Falyora reads the card plainly. It describes communication and its emotional temperature, nothing more mysterious than that. Whether the talk helps depends on the cards around it, and calm neighbours often mark a conversation worth having.

The Birds rarely tell you what is true. They tell you what is being said, and how loudly. In many spreads that turns out to be the most honest picture of a situation still in motion.
