The Letter (27) in Lenormand: meaning and combinations
A sealed envelope, sometimes with a quill or a wax seal beside it. The Letter is the card of written communication: messages, documents, forms, emails, anything set down in words. Where the Birds are talk, the Letter is text. It describes information that comes in a fixed form, something you can hold on to, keep in a drawer, and read again later.
In tradition
Traditionally the Letter is read as a letter or written news, and more broadly as documents, papers and correspondence. Older guides read it as neutral: its content is described entirely by the cards beside it. The inset is the seven of spades. Modern readers include emails, text messages and anything else sent in writing. In a line, the Letter takes its tone from its neighbours: a pleasant letter beside the Bouquet, a complicated one beside the Snake, an official one beside the Tower.
How Falyora reads it
Leading a pair, the Letter is the message, and the second card describes its content: Letter then Fish is an invoice or a payment notice, Letter then Heart a message of affection. Following another card, it gives that card a written form: Ring then Letter is a contract on paper, Tower then Letter official mail.
Here the Letter is about format, not content. It says that something is written down, which often matters as much as what it says. Words on paper can be reread, forwarded and quoted back, and spoken ones cannot.

The Letter & The Rider
Letter then Rider is a message that travels fast, a reply sent the same hour or a document passed quickly from hand to hand. Rider then Letter is the classic pairing for news that arrives in writing: the message itself, rather than the talk around it.
The Letter & The Book
Letter then Book is a confidential message, or a document whose contents you have not yet seen. Book then Letter is knowledge set down in writing: notes, a thesis, a certificate that records what you learned.
The Letter & The Moon
Letter then Moon is a message that touches the feelings, or recognition in writing, such as a reference or an award. Moon then Letter is writing that comes from emotion: a journal, a poem, a long message composed late in the evening.
The Letter & The Mountain
Letter then Mountain is a delayed message, a document stuck somewhere along the way. Mountain then Letter is a message about an obstacle, or a written reply that finally gets through after a long block.
The Letter fixes words in place. Once something is written, it can be read again, and the card often marks the moment a matter stops being talk and becomes a record.
