The Anchor (35) in Lenormand: meaning and combinations

A ship's anchor, heavy and dark, resting on the seabed or against a shore. The Anchor is the card of stability: security, endurance, things that hold. It describes what keeps you in place, which can be a steady job, a long relationship, a settled home, or a habit you cannot quite shake. In a sense it is the Ship's answer: where one moves, the other stays.

In tradition

Tradition reads the Anchor as stability, security and safe arrival. Older guides read it as the end of a voyage, the safe harbour, and also as work and career, especially employment that lasts. The inset is the nine of spades. Some readers add a shadow side: stubbornness, or being stuck, an anchor that refuses to lift. In a line, the Anchor is said to make its neighbours lasting, so a good card beside it stays good and a hard one stays hard for longer.

How Falyora reads it

At the front of a pair, the Anchor is the stable thing, and the second card shows what it is: Anchor then Fox is long-term work, Anchor then Heart lasting love. At the back of a pair, it fixes its neighbour in place: Ship then Anchor is arrival, Clouds then Anchor confusion that has settled in.

Falyora reads both sides of the card. Stability can be a gift or a weight, and the Anchor does not say which. It only shows that something is staying, and the rest of the line tells you how that feels.
