The Book (26) in Lenormand: meaning and combinations
A closed book, thick and bound in leather. The Book is the card of what is not yet known: secrets, hidden information, things you have not learned. It is also the card of knowledge itself: study, education, expertise, the long work of learning. Whether the book is open or closed matters, and most decks show it closed, so the card leans toward the unknown.
In tradition
Tradition reads the Book as secrets, hidden matters and the unknown, as well as learning and education. Older guides say it shows something kept from you, or something you keep from others. The inset is the ten of diamonds. Some decks show the book open, and readers then lean toward knowledge being revealed rather than withheld. In a Grand Tableau, cards lying near the Book are traditionally read as hidden or not yet known, as if the cover were still shut over them.
How Falyora reads it
First in a pair, the Book is the secret or the subject of study, and the second card says what it concerns: Book then Fish is a money matter you do not have the full picture of, Book then Fox training for work. Second in a pair, it makes its neighbour hidden or educational: Heart then Book is a feeling kept to yourself, Tower then Book a university or official records.
Falyora does not read the Book as anything sinister. Very often the hidden thing is simply information that has not reached you yet.
