The Tower (19) in Lenormand: meaning and combinations

A tall stone tower, often standing alone against the sky. The Tower is the card of structure and distance: institutions, official bodies, large companies, and the rules that come with them. It also stands for solitude and boundaries, the part of you that keeps others at arm's length. Unlike the tarot card of the same name, nothing is collapsing here. This tower was built to last.

In tradition

Tradition reads the Tower as authority, government and institutions such as offices, courts, universities or large firms. Older guides add permanence and height, and also isolation and pride: the tower that holds itself apart from the town below. The inset is the six of spades. Many readers also take it as a tall building or a high point, depending on the neighbouring cards. In a Grand Tableau, the cards around the Tower are often read as the place where official matters are found.

How Falyora reads it

Read first, the Tower is the institution or the structure, and the second card says what it is doing: Tower then Letter is official correspondence, Tower then Fish money from a large company or a public body. Read second, it makes its neighbour formal, official or distant: Heart then Tower is a feeling held at arm's length.

Structure comes before anything else with this card. It often appears when the matter in question is less personal than it feels, part of a system rather than one person's choice about you.
